We're a full grooming salon in Des Peres, not a van. That means that a proper bathing and drying setup, low-noise and low-heat dryers, medicated and remoisturizing shampoos on hand, and enough room to take a difficult coat slowly instead of on a schedule. Dog Grooming By Coat Type
Coat type drives a groom more than breed name does, and it's what determines both the time and the price.
Curly and doodle coats: labradoodles, goldendoodles, poodles, bernedoodles. These mat close to the skin and need a full brush-out before any clipper work. Booked at longer intervals they often need a shorter cut than the owner wanted; every 4–6 weeks keeps the length.
Double coats: golden retrievers, huskies, Australian shepherds, great pyrenees, German shepherds. We de-shed rather than shave: the undercoat comes out with the right tools and a high-velocity dry, and shaving a double coat damages how it regrows.
Wire and harsh coats: schnauzers, terriers. These hold a defined cut and we can follow a specific pattern; bring a photo if you have one in mind.
Matted coats: If a coat is matted to the skin, humane de-matting has limits. At a certain point a shave-down is the only option that doesn't hurt the dog. We'll tell you which one you're looking at before we start, not after.
Senior dogs: Our low-noise, low-heat dryers and a groomer with twenty years' experience matter most for older dogs, who tire faster and startle more easily.

Our senior groomer, who manages our grooming salon, has 20 years of experience. To make the grooming experience more enjoyable for your pet, we use low-noise, low-heat dryers. We also use high-quality shampoos, remoisturizing treatments for dry skin and coats, and medicated shampoos and conditioners (for dogs with allergies and other skin issues). Grooming can also be combined with other services. If you're already using our dog boarding, cat boarding, or dog daycare, please speak to our staff about adding grooming into your pet's routine!
What Dog Grooming Costs at Silver Maple
At Silver Maple, baths run $42 to $114 and haircuts run $62 to $125, depending on your dog's size and the condition of their coat. A short-haired small dog sits at the bottom of those ranges; a large, double-coated or badly matted dog sits at the top because it requires significantly more work. Every bath includes shampoo and conditioning, a brush-out and blow dry, nail clipping, ear cleaning, and feet and sanitary trimming. Add-ons (de-shedding, nail grinding, teeth brushing) are priced separately.
